This eBook niche never stops selling Amazon KDP video by Latoya Nicole

This eBook Niche Never Stops Selling (And Most People Overlook It)

What if your next profitable eBook idea is not hiding in a secret niche list? What if it is already connected to something you have experienced, learned, survived, solved, created, or accomplished?

Most people who want to publish an eBook immediately start searching for a profitable niche. They go to Amazon, watch YouTube videos, look for topics with high demand and low competition, and ask ChatGPT for lists of bestselling eBook ideas.

But one of the best eBook niches for you may be something you have overlooked because it is so close to you.

Your life is somebody else’s search bar.

Something you already know could become an eBook that helps someone who is standing where you used to stand. Because new people encounter old problems every day, this type of eBook never stops having potential readers.

In the video below, I explain how to recognize what you already know, connect it to an active market, and use ChatGPT Work and Amazon to research the idea before writing the entire book.

What Does “You Are the Niche” Mean?

When I say that you are the niche, I am not telling you to write an autobiography and expect strangers to buy your entire life story.

You are the source of the information, but the reader is still the focus.

Your experience gives you the material. Your reader’s problem gives that material a market.

Think about something you know how to do today that once confused you. Maybe you learned how to:

  • Manage money on an inconsistent income
  • Publish your first book
  • Care for an aging parent
  • Change careers after 40
  • Grow and care for your natural hair
  • Rebuild your routines after divorce

You may consider that information ordinary because it is now part of your everyday life. But ordinary to you does not mean worthless to someone else.

There was a time when I did not know how to publish a book. I had to learn how to create the content, prepare the files, choose the right format, upload the book to Amazon KDP, and get it in front of customers.

Some of those steps feel basic to me now because I have done them repeatedly. But to someone opening Amazon KDP for the first time, that information is not basic. It may be the answer they have been looking for.

You Are Not Necessarily the Topic—You Are the Lens

“You are the niche” does not mean your book should be broad, random, or based on everything you feel like discussing. You are the lens that makes the topic more specific.

Budgeting is a broad topic. A simple budgeting system for creative entrepreneurs with irregular income is more specific.

What you know + Who you can help + The result you can help them achieve = A potential eBook niche

You do not have to invent a topic nobody has ever written about. Competition can be evidence that customers are already spending money. Your opportunity may be to help a more specific person, solve a more specific problem, or explain the solution more clearly.

Connect Your Experience to an Active eBook Market

I used ChatGPT Work to begin researching broad eBook markets that tend to remain relevant. ChatGPT can organize ideas and help you develop possible search phrases, but an AI-generated list does not prove that your particular book will sell.

ChatGPT gives you a starting point. Amazon gives you marketplace evidence.

Five broad eBook markets worth investigating are:

  1. Self-help and personal development
  2. Health, fitness, and wellness
  3. Business, money, and careers
  4. Relationships, parenting, and family
  5. Religion, faith, and spirituality

These are not magic niches where every book automatically makes money. They are broad markets containing problems people continually want help solving.

The goal is to find the intersection between an active market and something you are genuinely equipped to explain.

Examples of the Intersection

  • Personal development + overcoming procrastination: Finish What You Start: A Simple Guide for Overwhelmed Creative Women
  • Business and money + managing inconsistent income: The Irregular-Income Budget for Freelancers and Creative Entrepreneurs
  • Relationships + rebuilding after divorce: Starting Over: A 30-Day Guide for Christian Women Rebuilding Their Lives After Divorce
  • Faith + recognizing your gifts: How to Recognize What God Is Calling You to Create

You are not choosing a random popular topic and forcing yourself into it. You are finding where an active market overlaps with your experience, your reader, and the result you can help that reader achieve.

Use ChatGPT Work to Develop Amazon Search Phrases

Once you identify the intersection, ask ChatGPT Work to help you translate the idea into phrases a customer might type into Amazon.

For example, you could enter this prompt:

Give me 10 phrases that a freelancer or creative entrepreneur might type into Amazon when looking for help budgeting with inconsistent income.

Possible search phrases might include:

  • Budgeting for irregular income
  • Budgeting for freelancers
  • Money management for creative entrepreneurs
  • How to budget when your income changes every month

Do not begin by searching for the clever title you invented. Search for the problem using language your customer is likely to use.

Use Amazon to Look for Evidence

Search several relevant phrases on Amazon and study what appears. Ask:

  • Are several relevant books appearing?
  • Are those books solving the same problem I want to solve?
  • Do some relevant books have encouraging Best Sellers Ranks?
  • Are customers leaving recent reviews?
  • What do positive reviews say readers found useful?
  • What do critical reviews say was missing, confusing, outdated, or too complicated?

You are looking for two things: evidence that customers buy books about the problem and an opportunity to make your book more useful, specific, current, relatable, or easier to understand.

Do not copy another author’s title, description, or content. Study the market to understand the customer and identify a gap your knowledge can responsibly fill.

Your experience gives you the angle.

ChatGPT helps you organize and explore the idea.

Amazon gives you evidence.

Create the Book Your Past Self Needed

One of the easiest ways to identify your reader is to think about a past version of yourself:

  • What did you need help with three years ago?
  • What were you searching for online?
  • What do you wish someone had clearly explained to you?

The person you used to be may represent the reader you are now equipped to help. You remember their fears, questions, language, and desired result because you once had them too.

Instead of asking, “What random niche should I enter?” ask:

What book did I once need that I could now create for somebody else?

Make a List of What You Are Equipped to Teach

Take out a piece of paper and complete these six statements:

  1. Something I have survived
  2. Something I have solved
  3. Something I have learned
  4. Something I have accomplished
  5. Something people regularly ask me to help them with
  6. Something my gifts, calling, or career have prepared me to teach

Then ask yourself:

  • Who specifically needs this information?
  • What problem does it solve for that person?
  • What result could this eBook help them achieve?

Now you are no longer holding a random personal experience. You are identifying a reader, a problem, and a result.

Your Story Is Not the Entire Product

Your story can make your book relatable, but your story alone may not make it useful. Readers may connect with what happened to you, but they are purchasing the book because they want help with what is happening to them.

Your story establishes trust. Your process creates transformation.

Share what happened, explain what it taught you, break down the process you followed, show readers how to apply it, and give them a practical next step. That could be a checklist, workbook page, template, action plan, or 30-day challenge.

You Do Not Have to Be the World’s Leading Expert

You need to be honest about what you know and qualified enough to teach it responsibly.

If you are providing medical, legal, financial, or mental-health guidance, appropriate credentials, accurate research, reliable sources, and proper disclaimers are especially important. Personal experience should never be presented as professional advice when it is not.

But many helpful eBooks are built around practical experience. You can explain what worked for you, what you learned, and the steps you followed without pretending your process is the only possible method.

You do not have to be ten thousand steps ahead of someone to help them. Sometimes you only need to be a few clear steps ahead and willing to turn around, explain the road, and show them where the potholes are.

Your Gift May Be Connected to What You Are Supposed to Create

Your experience may be connected to your gift, your calling, or work God has prepared you to do. That does not mean every experience automatically needs to become a book. It means you should not dismiss what God has developed inside you simply because it now feels ordinary.

The lesson. The gift. The process. The testimony. The thing you had to learn the hard way.

Maybe it was not only something you went through. Maybe it is also something you are now equipped to teach.

Stop Overlooking What Is Already Inside You

You do not need to discover a niche nobody else has found. You need to identify the person your experiences have prepared you to help.

That person is your niche. Their problem creates the demand. Your process becomes the product.

Your eBook becomes the bridge that helps someone move from where you used to be to what you now know.
